EDB Appoints 24 Advisory Committees to Drive Export Strategy Across Priority Sectors for 2026–2029
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) has formally appointed 24 Advisory Committees for the 2026–2029 cycle, tasked with shaping annual Action Plans, the National Export Development Plan (NEDP), and the broader National Export Policy. Appointment letters were handed over at a ceremony in Colombo on October 7, 2026, with Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti serving as chief guest. The committees draw membership from exporters, SMEs, private sector associations, government institutions, and industry experts.
The advisory structure spans six cross-sector committees — including trade logistics and hub operations, trade facilitation, and trade finance — alongside eight priority export sector committees covering areas such as electrical and electronic components, spices, rubber-based industries, and digital products. A further ten committees address key sectors including apparel, gems and jewellery, coconut-based products, and seafood. EDB Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe outlined that the committees will play a pivotal role in advancing the NEDP 2026–2030, developed with ADB technical assistance, which underpins Sri Lanka’s US$ 36 billion export target by 2030.
