EDB Leads High-Level Trade Delegation to India to Expand Gem & Jewelry Supply Chains

Supported by the Sri Lanka High Commission in New Delhi and the Consulate in Mumbai, the EDB organized a high-level Sri Lankan business delegation to India from August 8 to 13, 2026. The mission focuses on strengthening bilateral trade, securing raw material access, and expanding market opportunities for Sri Lanka’s high-value Gem & Jewelry sector across Indian commercial centers.

Air-freight security, rapid customs clearance, and insured vault logistics are crucial for high-value, low-weight commodities like gems and precision jewelry. Facilitating secure air-cargo corridors between Colombo, Mumbai, and New Delhi reduces holding costs and accelerates time-to-market for premium Sri Lankan lapidary exports.
