Sri Lanka Customs Phasing Out Fast Track Facility; Mandates Transition to AEO Programme

 A major compliance structural shift is taking effect across Sri Lanka’s trade borders today. Sri Lanka Customs has officially announced the permanent discontinuation of its legacy manual Fast Track Facility effective June 30, 2026. To maintain trade facilitation benefits, zero-delay border clearances, and minimize yard detention penalties, all high-volume importing and exporting enterprises are now required to transition into the comprehensive Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme.

For 3PL networks, shipping managers, and industrial warehouse operators, this shift represents a major step toward fully digitized, paperless port clearance. The AEO framework rewards high-compliance organizations with streamlined pre-arrival processing and rapid container releases, but getting certified requires meeting tight risk-management and documentation standards. Supply chain managers must audit their internal compliance pathways immediately to ensure their operations bypass standard cargo inspection queues and protect thin profit margins from surprise port storage fees.
