  • Resilience in Numbers: Sri Lanka’s Exports Breach $5.7 Billion in YTD

The Export Development Board (EDB) has just released phenomenal performance figures: Sri Lanka’s cumulative export earnings for the first four months of 2026 have surpassed $5.78 billion, growing 4.3% compared to last year. Even more impressive is that total exports for April alone hit $1,380.93 million, achieving a 6% year-on-year growth despite severe global shipping bottlenecks.

A closer look at this success highlights a structural evolution. While merchandise exports grew steadily by 9.87% to $1,063.77 million, our Services Exports—which include transport and high-end logistics consultancy—brought in an estimated $317.16 million. This service-driven cushion is a vital component of our “Modern Canvas,” shielding national export revenues from the physically constrained maritime corridors.
