Naval Strike off Gale: US Submarine Sinks Iranian Frigate IRIS Dena

In a major escalation, a US Navy submarine torpedoed the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena approximately 40 nautical miles off the coast of Galle. The vessel was returning from naval exercises in India. The Sri Lankan Navy conducted a massive rescue operation, saving 32 sailors.

This brings the conflict to our doorstep. Global insurance underwriters are expected to reclassify the waters around Sri Lanka as a High-Risk Area (HRA), leading to a spike in hull and cargo insurance premiums for all vessels calling at our ports.
