Colombo Dockyard repairs container vessel Lobivia damage
Colombo Dockyard recently completed repairs on the Singapore-flagged container vessel Lobivia, which had been struck while navigating the Gulf of Aden. A specialized team from the shipyard inspected the vessel and determined that the necessary repairs could be carried out without drydocking, saving valuable time.
The repairs involved extensive work on the vessel’s hatch covers and accommodation areas, including new ceiling and wall panels, furniture refurbishment, and repainting. In addition to the hatch cover repairs, the shipyard also addressed structural issues such as cargo crane damage, with steel renewal for the jib and repairs to the cabin doors.
Other significant repairs included restoration of electrical cabling, cargo hold and fuel tank structural repairs, as well as piping and railing work. These efforts were critical in ensuring the vessel’s operational safety and compliance with international maritime standards.
