Lufthansa Cargo Expands Fleet, ZIM Partners
Lufthansa Cargo welcomed its 18th Boeing 777 freighter at Frankfurt Airport in August 2024, marking a significant expansion of its long-haul cargo capacity. The aircraft was delivered directly from Boeing’s factory in Everett, Washington, to the airline’s primary hub, enhancing Lufthansa Cargo’s ability to meet growing global demand for freight services.
In another development in transportation, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services entered into a new operational cooperation with MSC, covering the Asia – U.S. East Coast and U.S. Gulf trades. The cooperation will see the launch of six new services in February 2025, linking key ports in Asia with the U.S. East Coast, Mexico, Caribbean, and U.S. Gulf ports.
Additionally, Southeastern Freight Lines launched a direct service to Las Cruces, New Mexico, connecting the region with cities like Dallas, Fort Worth, Odessa, and San Antonio, providing next-day shipping options. Meanwhile, Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings added three Boeing 747-8 freighters to its fleet to support the increasing demand for airfreight capacity, especially in cross-border e-commerce shipping.
