The Colombo International Maritime and Logistics Conference 2024 will bring together leading experts from the shipping, ports, and logistics industries to discuss regional and global sector developments.
Scheduled for its seventh edition from November 27 to 29 at the Cinnamon Grand in Colombo, the event takes place amid rapid regional changes, with South Asia experiencing increased capacity expansion, competition, and emerging opportunities. By late 2025, the Port of Colombo is set to double its container handling capacity, solidifying its position as a major transshipment hub in the Indian Ocean. The port is also working towards becoming a green port with automated terminals and sustainable fuel options. Meanwhile, India’s projected economic growth will drive domestic port expansion, creating new regional logistics demands. Given its strategic location, Sri Lanka is poised to play a key role in supporting these evolving industry needs. The conference will explore trends, forecasts, and investment prospects in this multi-billion-dollar sector.
The event will feature international port operators, shipping firms, logistics providers, and technology partners, offering insights into global perspectives alongside a South Asian focus. It will serve as a prime platform for understanding regional maritime economies, identifying investment opportunities, and fostering commercial partnerships to support growing logistics demands. More than 20 international speakers and 500 delegates are expected to participate in the three-day conference, which will include port visits and networking sessions. Organized in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (AMCHAM) and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK), along with other industry associations, chambers, and global organizations, the event is strongly supported by Colombo’s diplomatic community, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s role as a vital logistics hub connecting East and West Asia.
