Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake Returns as Chairman of SLPA

In a strategic move for the maritime sector, industry veteran Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake officially assumed duties as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on February 17, 2026. This marks his third “innings” in this pivotal role, signaling a focus on stability and high-level maritime diplomacy. The appointment letter was handed over by the Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Anura Karunathilaka.

Dr. Dissanayake’s return is expected to accelerate the “Digital Leap” at the Port of Colombo, particularly as the East and West terminals reach critical operational phases. For the logistics and warehousing sector, his leadership—backed by his experience as the first non-British international president of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers—promises a renewed emphasis on improving terminal productivity and reducing dwell times.
