  • India’s Dedicated Freight Corridor Nears Completion, Promising Logistics ‘Revolution’

India is on the cusp of a major logistics efficiency leap as the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) nears full operational completion, expected by March 2026. Speaking at the ET Infra Leadership Summit, CONCOR CMD Sanjay Swarup called the DFC a “game changer,” emphasizing its transformative potential for the national logistics landscape. This specialized rail network is designed to separate cargo and passenger rail traffic, significantly reducing freight congestion.

The DFC’s impact on transit times is nothing short of revolutionary. Once fully active, freight trains will complete the massive 1,500 km journey from the National Capital Region (NCR) to Nhava Sheva port in just 24 hours, a fraction of the current time. This efficiency gain will catalyze a significant modal shift from road to rail, boosting both cost competitiveness for exports and reducing the overall carbon footprint of Indian cargo movement.

To support this shift, logistics providers are rapidly expanding their infrastructure. CONCOR, for instance, is focusing on an integrated logistics hub model and increasing its fleet of electric and LNG trucks for first and last-mile connectivity. This coordinated investment in rail, road, and port infrastructure confirms that India is strategically building a modern, multimodal network, positioning itself as a highly reliable and cost-effective player in the global supply chain.Source: https://infra.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/logistics/unlocking-indias-logistics-potential-infrastructure-as-the-key/125610803
