  • Indian Railways expands export of rail equipment

Indian Railways, driven by the “Make in India, Make for the World” initiative, is aggressively transforming from a domestic operator into a global exporter of world-class railway equipment. The organization, led by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, is exporting a diverse portfolio of products, including bogies (to the UK and Australia), propulsion systems (to multiple European nations), passenger coaches (to Bangladesh and Mozambique), and locomotives (to various African nations and Sri Lanka). A key highlight is the export of complex locomotives from the Marhowra plant to the Republic of Guinea. This export drive is strengthening global rail infrastructure by offering partner nations a blend of affordability and quality while simultaneously advancing India’s self-reliance and global competitiveness in the rail manufacturing sector.
